Sahtein! a quick YouTube video about Arabic dialect/food customs
so I totally haven't set up those new filters yet because I made that poll and then basically packed and hopped in a car with three cats for 12 hours and now have been unkinking my body and getting cats adjusted to NEW. (They are doing really, really well. More on that...some other time.)
Anyway, I said I was going to do some posts on Arabic slang and such-like. In this case someone has done the hard work for me, because there's actually a Youtube video *and* I didn't even have to find it myself. My potential-futuer-sister-in-law showed it to me one day, and then sent the link my way when I couldn't find it because searching for Sahtein on Youtube just produced Justin Bieber links...IDEK.
P.S. If you can ever get your hands on a used copy of a 1970s/1980s cookbook called Sahtein! that's like a collection of women's home recipes contributed as a fundraiser for something, it is totally worth it. Not many pictures but the recipes are really good/authentic. Our copy is handled with care and love so that it lasts a long time. I would link names/ISBNs but I don't have it with me atm.
