I don't know if I will be able to respond to all your lovely comments individually; just know that they were read and treasured in a time of flipping out-ness.
Have decided that the sweater is indeed still lovely in the light of a second day. However, its intended potential recipients all desire machine washability, and other possibilities in my family risk Family Drama (i.e. two siblings with children, I don't want to have to knit another darn sweater, my mom keeps implying that they'd both have to get a gift wtf).
Instead, it is going to friends of a friend who have a daughter in about the right age range; who are happy to hand-wash items that need it; who both work retail and don't have a ton of disposable income; who appreciate funky colors (as does their daughter, apparently). Huzzah, the sweater has a home! Plus, I don't have to pay postage, even better!
It feels, oddly, a little reminiscent of Glitch and Ur. "Here I made this thing but I don't want it, who wants it for free who could really use it?" as opposed to some market version of the thing. I definitely want to continue incorporating that into my knitting, although as I say that I am still plotting adding more things to my Etsy store just because the rest of the world operates on a market system and therefore those green things are useful sometimes.
It also helped that I had some successful creations yesterday to rub in the balm of my creator-wounds. Plus, I started swatching for an Adult Surprise Jacket in earth tones as it seems they had taken over my stash. Am uber excited about how the swatch turned out, omg.

Date: 2012-12-13 04:14 pm (UTC)The swatch is really awesome...and I'm still not sure what I want to do with the yarn. However, I found some other yarn I'd put in "a safe place" and lost, so that's good!
