At first Chance had seemed the greater threat with his pacing outside her door and his gifts, but glancing at the self-assured queen now she wasn't quite so sure.

A post of cuteness because today I need cuteness. *avoids news and thinkpieces like the plague*

But in the meantime, I have been harassing photographing the cats with my new camera.

I made a Flickr set with just-new-camera photos. I am also going to play with video editing because I got video of butt-wiggles but it's interspersed with lots of time of them deciding when is a good time to pounce.

Hello fellow dw cat people!

So Chance appears to have some sort of food-related allergy. The "is it food or is it environmental" has been up in the air for awhile, as the symptoms are intermittently GI but also sometimes involve sores on his face (which he sticks into *everything* so it's like "well maybe he stuck his face in a dust bunny again"?).

Meanwhile, here's the real question: does anyone have recommendations for dry cat food that is poultry-based (preferably chicken and duck) and does not contain fish, states where the ingredients are sourced? Our budget could probably absorb about $20/5 lb bag, but once it gets into $30/5 lb bag range it's a bit of a stretch, though we can probably shop around as we have with Orijen and find the least expensive supplier.

Hey! Partner took a bunch of photos of cats and I finally snagged them from her Smaug-like-hoard and put them on Flickr but I haven't arranged the set yet so be warned the newest ones are all at the bottom. (Well, some of them. There were LOTS and also some duplicates.)

If you want to see them, here is the Flickr set and also I'm putting one of Lily begging here. We taught it to Chance as a trick, she learned it from him, and now she will spontaneously do things like tap your hand with her paw and you look down and she's doing this:


Lily standing on her hind paws and "begging" for food, which is a very effective strategy because it's irresistibly cute.

Her expression says, "Look into my eyes! Please madam, I want some more...I was a poor starving orphan cat...in my eyes you can see all the hunger and longing and love of the universe...now you have an urge to feed meeee..."

You know how they have ball pits?

Well, what about a toy-mouse pit for kitties?

Wouldn't have to be huuuuge, could be expanded, and if Chance went AAAHHHHH THEY HAVE BANDED TOGETHER then we would just have a large stash of toy-mice for when the existing stash went missing, etc.

ALSO IT WOULD BE AWESOME.

P.S. My brain weasels keep acting up and it sucks and also this leads me to talk a LOT about depressing news things like the FCC and Net Neutrality or what have you. I think know it is irritating my partner and also bothering me. Can someone link me sites that are cheerful and fun to look at but include sometimes words and not just pictures/video (because often I look at on my phone while twiddling thumbs and bandwidth). Dark humor also very much appreciated (see: The Bloggess).

I cannot rant and rave enough about what an awesome person staranise  is, so I won't even attempt to at this juncture (especially since Lyrica + fatigue = what are brainz even?).

However, I will say that staranise and her cat, Bert, could use a bit of extra help at the moment, as staranise just moved to start a new job and Bert is having some rather large vet bills.

"So this is what I'm asking for: I would really appreciate any financial help anyone could give me right now. My job was supposed to start two weeks ago, but thanks to a bureaucratic hangup it might (maybe!) start next week, or maybe the week after; I was supposed to be earning income already. I've paid rent twice this month thanks to the move. Today's vet visit wiped out basically all the money I had left, and I don't know how I'm going to pay tomorrow morning for the medications that Bert needs now, which are averaging around $400/mo, much less any additional tests or procedures he might need."
