Someone in my circle linked this, and then I opened the tab and forgot who linked it. Whoever it was, thank you!

Date: 2013-11-08 10:44 pm (UTC)YES YES YES. I do want to talk to you about all this stuff sometime. I've been feeling like such a POSER lately. Ugh. waves a wand Imposter Syndrome Be Gone :D :D

Date: 2013-11-08 10:46 pm (UTC)Maybe Imposter Syndrome is like Fear, and it's a symptom of something else being wrong. Like a nudge to do something different with my art/craft? I dunno, it's a thought. Like, "Take your hand off the stove, it's hot!" or "Stop knitting ornaments or you'll go MAD!"

Date: 2013-11-08 11:08 pm (UTC)Honestly, right now, I cannot focus on quilting 100%. I have a family to tend to. I want my family to have priority.
I don't think Imposter Syndrome rearing its head is a symptom of something else being wrong. I think it's just more reflective of my general insecurities and core belief that I'm worthless (see above about brain weasels b/c I don't actually believe that I'm worthless, but that's what they would have me believe.)

Date: 2013-11-09 01:54 pm (UTC)<3 That whole worthlessness thing is a tough weasel to beat. The best I've managed is continual defenses against its assaults on my inner fortress of creativity.
P.S. On the subject of making money from art, am considering whether to do something like Pockets McGee is currently doing on Society6 with some of my artsier shots of yarn (i.e. get them printed on cell phone cases or mugs or things on them). *nervous*

Date: 2013-11-10 09:47 pm (UTC)Right! Excellent point. Real life takes precedence over everything. We need to eat/sleep/have clean spaces. Imposter Syndrome lies to us, just like depression. And those damned lying spoons.
Oooh, that looks BRILLIANT. You should do it! You already have an etsy shop! I should totally do something like that, if I can ever get over my self-confidence/worthlessness issues.
