Today I wore...
  • a necklace I made myself (with paper beads I had made myself, too!)
  • earrings I made myself
  • a t-shirt I tie dyed myself
  • socks I knitted myself
  • with a walker partially yarn-bombed that I had done myself
Meanwhile, I was in the process of knitting a hat while sitting in various waiting rooms.

Next Sometime soon I want to try making myself a skirt. [personal profile] holli has me excited about an idea, but I need to get the instructions as I am a bit fuzzy on them. (Boo, brain fog!) I also have dreams of tie dyeing undergarments so that I can be completely kitted out in things I have made/modded in some way. *plots* Also, now that it's beginning to get cooler, all I can think is, "I can wear my knitwear soon!"

Am also in the midst of revamping my Etsy store (it's still a WIP itself, but at least there are things there again). I have some exciting things planned. At least, I think they are exciting. Plus there is finishing to do for more walker accoutrements...

Basically, it's All The Crafting. Because when I get sick, I have to deal with it somehow. Plus, you know, creativity in general kicks ass.

I really want to go to a thrift store. I live near loads. My partner hates thrifting. /sigh

*.* I love thrifting. If I lived closer we could totally hobble around a thrift store together in all our lyme-warrior glory.

I lack the talent to knit and the like so I'm always *terribly* impressed by crafty folk like yourself. I do like to make t-shirts though, mostly via creating iron-on transfers or sometimes just plain painting on them with fabric paint. I unfortunately don't think I have any examples to share, as it's been ages since I've done this and most have faded and been disposed of.

I do love making jewelry though - do you have any pics of your home-made paper beads? I have made a few necklaces working with stone and natural materials (tarantula fangs scavenged from exuvia, deer vertebrae, etc).

Very cool beads :)
I'm very impressed by the t-shirt. I tried once to tie-dye a t-shirt, but it ended up rather splotchy and all the colors were too pale.

I am about to start on a (few) pair(s) of armwarmers for myself! I have some fingerless gloves that I love, but because of stuff we're doing in classes, I need to have my fingers totally free, and I only have two actual pairs of armwarmers - one pair is not very warm (but they are fun) and the other pair is a bit too big. So. Speaking of wearing your own stuff. I am pretty excited for that. (My classmates have seen some of my toys that I have made, but nothing wearable yet. because it is still too warm for my socks I made, hahaha. Someone asked me today if I'd made the gloves I'm wearing, and I was sort of sad to be saying no.)

I need a crafting icon.

I will try to remember! :D I can't decide which ones to start with, though. That's particularly sad because I intend to start one tonight. Here, I'll show you the patterns I'm considering (using as a base if not actually following; I'm big on changing stuff up halfway through):

this one is cool for being so infinitely adjustable
these I would do more boring and less fans
and this pattern is just nice and simple-looking but still interesting.

Knitting makes my knuckles hurt. I am a crochet-pip for sure :D

I think I'm going to start with the shells one. It's easy (they're all pretty easy though), and I'm totally spending the night in front of the TV (I am taking an extremely well-deserved night off schoolwork (with the bargain with myself that I will do a lot of work this weekend)) so I like something that doesn't take a lot of thought. And it is nice, and actually the warm one, that's a good one to save for later when it gets colder. You are therefore helpful!

Hmm, yarn. ooh I have a lot of this nice dark greyish-blue that's a Caron SuperSoft or whatever it's called, I do love the way that feels. also it's my favorite color. well, one of many. (and actually I bought it originally for some gloves that didn't work out, so that's sort of full circle, two years later! that's cool.)

(i like to ramble crafts, thank you for letting me ramble crafts at you!)

Too big! New color is slightly greener and slightly lighter. *starts over*
