Syndicated comics on an rss feed?
Jun. 13th, 2011 11:20 amI've been adding my favorite webcomics to my dreamwidth feed so that I can keep track of them easily without resorting to my bookmarks all the time. (I have them organized by which days they tend to update. I thought I'd add one of my favorite syndicated strips from the Washington Post. They publish it on a different page from the rest of the comics, and so I often miss it because I forget to turn to the other page. Newspapers are so cumbersome.
The comic, by the way, is Cul de sac.It's...hard to describe, but I will say folks have been calling it the successor to Calvin and Hobbes. I think they have good reason to.
Unfortunately, the author doesn't maintain his own website with the comic a la webcomic artists. Instead it's online through a website called "go comics" (which also houses Pearls Before Swine, another favorite of mine). Go comics is full of ads and pop ups and who knows what, and it won't let me subscribe through dreamwidth. It wants me to enter my email address (so they can send me more ads, only in my inbox).
I do not want to do this. I just want to read the comic in as non-complicated a way as possible.
Does anyone have any experience with reading syndicated comics through a feed? Suggestions and loopholes to make it happen?
